greeting me as I arrive home each night.
I put together a quick video, mostly for my Aunt. She's a talented artist and enjoyed looking at Coco's photos on my phone during lunch on Sunday. I told her I would send pictures, but realized it might be easier to show her this:
Grouting is (to me) the scary part of a project. I can never quite trust I won't ruin my hard work by not removing everything at the right time. Just after I smothered Coco in brown grout, I rushed her outside to hose off anything that may have potentially ruined her sweet face. (I'd like to point out, I did NOT put her in the kitchen sink, thus risking the purchase of another garbage disposal.)
Beads/shells always become loose during this process and will need repairing, but for now I'm going to give her (and me) a few days of rest before returning to glue/beads/shells/grout/etc.
Next Friday at this time I will be arriving at a Spa located somewhere in Utah, with Blogger Pal Moi and her posse of friends for a long weekend of hiking, workouts and pampering. My first true vacaction (aka not a family reunion/obligation) in nearly three years.
Strange, how much can change in a year.
I was invited last year, but at that time my little Company was exploding from within with large orders/short lead-times/stress and the thought of leaving to even go to the bank seemed impossible.
this year, her invitation came to a different person,
in a New World,
and I hesitated only a second before saying,
"yes".
If nothing else, the last twelve months have taught me that time is short, our friends and family are precious and anytime someone offers,
Hot stone massages,
You'd be a fool not to go.
Especially since I seem to have the time to actually enjoy a few days off. Thank you recession for the relaxed work environment!
Of course just over the past few days my business, like the weather, has begun to warm again and I've spent this last week fielding phone calls, submitting quotes and working in the shop in a way that is very reminiscent of last year.
Which is good, of course, and I hope it continues.
But I'm not the same person I was a year ago, so instead of worrying about what will happen if I go,
I'm going to worry about what would happen (to me) if I didn't.
So I'll be spending my weekend packing, locating never used summer clothes and buying as much sunscreen as I can find.
I'll be back for Mute Monday. The theme is New York.
I know, I don't get it either.
Have a great weekend.

I don't have any cool turtles.
No, white legs can not be seen from space.
i.love.coco. have fun this weekend. xoxxo
(it seems my only time alone is at the grocery store.)
You are a VERY different person ... and I am happy that you're taking some "Me" time. It's important to have.
Coco looks gorgeous ... you should be proud!
I've seen your white legs on Google Earth.
Me too. And chihuahuas.
Always glad for the turtle update, and I'm sure you will finish him as well as you started. Looking good.
And that's a really good attitude about the trip as there's always a bunch of reasons for not being able to go to things like that, however, you will never regret it if you actually attend. Sounds great except for the thought of the hot stone massage as I prefer just a normal deep-tissue rub-down (but I've never had a stone one so what do I know).
Just HEARING the word, "grout," sends shivers of terror down my spine.
The evolution of Coco, cool.
You got to pamper yourself once in a while.
You can't have the aches and pains without some of the rewards coming your way
I think Boxer's sink feels the same way Moi does.
Just Bob - Are you sure, 'cuz I'm told satellites pick up everything.
Savannah - same to you, xoxox, and there have been times I stayed in the restroom just so I could have a break. So. Sad.
Scarlet - thanks. As much I would like the recession to be over, I have to admit there's a part of me that can now see the way I used to work maybe wasn't the healthiest. xxox.
MJ - Damnit. I knew it. Where's the spray tan??
Shamu - I bet the Eagles can see them too. Time to camouflage them as squirrels.
2$ - Oh, I'm just getting started.... the hot stone massage is Friday.... the Deep Tissue is scheduled for Saturday after a few days of hiking/etc. Now to make sure they serve vodka... maybe I can get Moi to stop at a liquor store on the way in?
Moi - ahahahaha. It dries the crap outta my hands too. and gets everywhere.
Walker - I agree. Thanks and have a great weekend.
Shamy - bwahahahahahaah. Mr. Boxer also feels the same way because he had to replace it last time.
Her eyelashes are killing me!
Have a wonderful time with Moi and friends! I'll check out google maps to see if I can find those legs from satellite pics. ;-)
Enjoy your trip! I've never had a hot stone massage, but it sounds relaxing. If you can, get a tan. Then you won't have to worry whether or not your legs are a cause of concern for NASA.
Oh dear lord, what a trip, and how could you say no to something so appealing! Ya'll girls ENJOY and post lots of piccies.
PS - is there not something you could use besides grout? Surely some modgepodge/grout material exists on the market? If not, invent it! Grout is too heavy anyway and I've never been good with it. Surely there is something you can just squeeze in the gaps????
what a great turtle!
never thought I'de see the day when I said this, but, well...it's gotta be said.
I think the turtle looks danged pretty!
and, lord knows I've seen my share of turtles!
Heck, sometimes I AM the turtle!
But that is one beautifully pretty turtle!
That said, you really pulled the rug out from underneath us with that ever so distinguishable musical ending...
d=))
Chi-Zilla and the Pearled Turtle from Outer Space?
please! white is the new tan. coco is the new lawn jockey and grout is done a section at a time. youre not to worry. it'll turn out great. youre crafty, babe. super crafty.
Ree - I love her little face too. Rhinestone eyes. We should all be so lucky. :-)
Pam - I made a piece for my yard using concrete patch, no grout, but with china, I really need the grout and I think she's looking pretty hawt. I did use the small paintbrush and that really helped smush the grout into the tiny places.
Boneman - Thanks and I did think about how I could use Coco in a movie.....
K9 - I took your advice and I'm really happy with the brown grout v. white (which gets dirty fast) I just got home and there she was by the front door. Mr. Boxer worried someone would take it her and I said "Please, she weighs a TON". thanks for the confidence, it really does help. xoxox.
Boxer,
Coco is going to have to be put up for adoption. Too many admirers want to bring her home. I agree with the Rotty, grout in sections!!!!!
Hikes, massages, bloggers? Sounds like a great getaway to me. You must be really looking forward to the trip because not once did you mention tequila or vodka, not even after the sunblock!
I bet we all look forward to the next post that is not about NY.
New post is up at the Pond.
Fishy - :-) You have no idea how super excited I am for my trip! As long as they serve vokda.... must call spa on Monday......And I love your most recent post. Haunting....
