The theme for Mute Monday is FLORA and/or FAUNA. I hope to have something loaded into Blogger before we are "wheels up" on Friday morning, but that will depend on how much packing I get done, how many brochure holders we produced and how quickly I located my camera.
After doing my own special happy dance last night after I found tickets are still available for The King Tut exhibit on Friday night, I searched out this video* from my past:
Not only does it still make me laugh over thirty years later, but it takes me back to my youth and reminds me of the summer I met Mr. Boxer.
The original King Tut Exhibit was in Seattle and while beginning to realize we might actually have a future together, we made a silly movie involving airports, a cheesy King Tut mask and a gold lamé raincoat.
It was the first summer I visited the beach house and,
it was another "Summer of Love" I've never forgotten.
Have a great weekend. Tell your family and friends you love them.
Go do something fabulous.
xoxo
*bite me NBC for not allowing YouTube to post anything from SNL. Mr. Boxer has successfully thwarted your attempts to control content! Bwahahahahahahahha. Take your forced commercials and stuff 'em!

you absolutely MUST go to:
House of Nanking
919 Kearny St (Broadway/Pacific), 421-1429
11am-10pm 7 days.
heaven, sugar, pure heaven! fantastic food, great people, a real experience! we go there whenever we're in the city. have a blast! xoxox
(never got your postcard, btw.)
btw, well done mr. boxer! xoxo
I remember when Steve Martin first became famous – everyone in the entire school started adopting his speech, which drove the teachers and administration crazy. "Well, excuse me!" Which I thought a perfectly acceptable response to the quality of publik edumacashun we were receiving at the time. High schoolers are such little anarchists.
I don't see clean underwear on that list.
Punch a hippie for me.
Good job there Mr. Boxer...sticking it to da Man.
Hippies punch back these days.
Have a great trip (literally) enjoy the city. It's one of the nicest places I have ever visited. Even the dickheads were polite
Will take your advice to heart and put it into practice.
Never mind the clean underwear...
Where's the vodka?
Savannah - I written down the address and I will do everything I can to check it out. Thank you! xoxo.
Moi - "we is jest two wild and crazee guys!!!!!" Brilliant stuff.
Just Bob - Hello! Thanks for the important safety tip. :-)
Gnome - Mr. Boxer doesn't usually like to break rules, but when it comes to content and pirating.... he goes to his "dark side" pretty quickly. No hippie punching... see NYD.
NYD - ahahahah- that's exactly what I thought. Plus, I'd rather punch a gothy-slacker over a nice hippie. I love the city too and you have a great weekend.
MJ - that's what the in-room mini-bar is alllllll about.
Don't forget Ghirardelli Factory darlin.
The chocolate is amazing, and it pairs well with vodka.
Enjoy yourself & soak in the amazingness that is SF.
Oh, and Mr. Boxer? You so rock! :D
I can't even tell you how much I loved Steve Martin back in the day! That arrow-through-the-head while playing banjo was a fave, as was King Tut. Hysterical stuff. Enjoy your trip and be safe!
Boxer,
I was going to say bring walking shoes but you covered that one completely.
Bring: winter coat (or at least a scarf) and sunscreen! One June La Diva wore her winter coat at Fisherman's wharf (while freezing women looked at me with jealousy!) and then got sunburned the next day at a street festival (keep in mind Mark Twain's saying about the coldest winter?!)
Eat lotsa dim sum/yum cha and don't forget to tell us all about it!
I love the Levi's store there but your nephew might be a bit young for that (maybe that's a good thing!)
finally, LOVE the Steve Martin vid, just saw that not too long ago!
Have fun!
I think you've covered the necessary materials. Have a wonderful time, and take lots of fun fotos! xo
Blaze - hey, you've been missed while on your bender. :-) Thanks for the reminder on the chocolate, it's a great place to spend some QUALITY time. Hee.
Pam - I think Steve Martin embraced the physical side to comedy and it's timeless to me. I was cracking up while watching this video last night. Safe and sane is my motto for the next few days.
LaDiva - You are so right about the coat. I lived in San Jose many moons ago and we'd drive up to S.F. to escape the heat of the valley. The first time? I nearly FROZE. It's a great city and I'm sooooo ready for a little break.
Kmwathy - and I'll be taking some videos too! I already have the song picked out. Ha. You have a great weekend too.
Sounds like you are all set for a great time.
Score one for Mr Boxer with a right hook to the button
Have fun!
Well done getting around NBC for Mr. Boxer & have a great trip. That is a good list & I think you have your bases covered. My only advice - get to the De Young early for that exhibit as it was a mess a few weeks ago when my wife was there. But enjoy yourself as SF is always a good time.
Hope ya has yoreself a spledid weekend!! TUt tut!
OMG! I don't know where the hell I've been...obviously not paying attention! You know, I'm in San Francisco. I'd love to meet you if you don't think I'm a stalker or anything. I'm sure you've got a packed itinerary, but if you're interested and want to try and meet, send me an email: me.random.chick@gmail.com.
BTW, you're also going to need layers. It starts out COLD then gets HOT. Be prepared.
Oh, do say hi to San Fran for me, won't you? It's been forever.
Walker - so glad to see your around blogworld.
2$ - thanks for the advice. We went late Friday and it was calm, but the guides kept saying "this isn't normal" and looing at the line "management" it looked nutz.
Aunty - I hope you're having one too. Tut Tut was the name of the goofy movie we made that summer. AND, we are having a wonderful time. xoxox.
Random - let me think? Raising two small children? I think that's where you've been. If I were here more than 48 hours I'd find a way to meet up with you, but with such a short time and a 15 year old in tow, it would be hard. Next trip.. I want to come back with my BFF who lives in Sacramento. Thank you for the offer, I'm honored.
Ree - did you leave your heart here? You need to come back. It's a great place.
